I only make 6.00 an hour. It is very hard to support my 3 kids making so little. Can we finally get more per hour now that we own Congress? Why do Repuplicans not care? My boss says he will go out of business if minimum wage goes up. Ha! Ha! Me and my co workers will just go get another job somewhere where they pay higher minimum wage. Why do Republicans not like us poor people?

Your boss is right! If the minimum wage goes up, so will unemployment! Did you ever think about looking for a job somewhere other than a fast food restaurant? Maybe you haven't noticed, but the economy is the best it's been in a long time and the unemployment rate is at 4.4 % which is lower than the average for the last 30 years! You see, Bush did something right, and it's all because of the tax cuts (which everyone got! Not just the rich like you left wingers seem to think)

That's what the NEW speaker of the House wants to do, raise the minimum wage. Republicans want to make sure that the poor stay poor, and NEVER have a chance to take some of their money. (as if that were even realistically possible) But to be fair, the way I see it is your boss WILL have to get the money from SOMEWHERE. He can't just make it appear out of thin air, so he will either have to (A) raise prices, or (B) lay people off. Neither are good. And what if in your area nobody is paying a higher (or much higher) minimum wage? You can't afford to move to someplace that does, can you? I know that I can't. I'm on your side, but I also try and to be realistic. What we need is to bring back good paying factory jobs. I know that it'll never happen, at least not any time soon. Right now, jobs are going to those who are willing to work for the least amount of pay. That's sad, that's unfortunate, that's unfair. But as of now, that's reality.

Hard working people who work two jobs are not looking dor a "hand-out". Whoever believes that is mean, has their head up their *** and most likely, a republican. There are a LOT of people who have college degrees who are still working for less pay than they did ten years ago, so working a minimum wage job is NO reflection on who you are as a person. And we are not going to "shut up and suck it up" as one poster implied. And to imply that it is your fault that you had kids, and that If you wanted more money you shouldn't have had children is just ludicrous beyond words.

Congress is useless. Always has been useless. 23 States have higher than the federal minimum wage. Ohio just past $6.85/hr.
The $ 5.15 federal is 1915 wages at today's dollars. I also hope the Federal Government will keep it's ugly nose out of States rights.
Republicans have claimed for a long time that it cost jobs and leads to inflation. Studies in the 23 States prove this wrong. Also a story about how Wall-Mart could raise hourly pay and still make a nice profit proves this Republican thinking to be wrong. If ya get no Health Insurance $6.85 is chicken feed, no one can live on that. Get a petition on your State Ballot.

You my friend, are mearly the victim of disorganized thinking. But on the bright side you only have 3 kids to support on a small income as apposed to say 5, 7, or 9 kids which used to be encouraged by democrates in their hayday as a way of ensuring a poor and dependent underclass of valuable election time voters.
Reorganize you thoughts and follow the logic.
You and the mother of your 3 children were financially better off before you decided to have 3 children and as each of your children were born your take home pay was being consumed faster then you could make it.
Your boss has a point though, he might have to let someone go.
That someone could be you.
I hope your boss can keep his business afloat without having to let someone go. Good luck to you and your family.

What exactly do you think is going to happen when minimum wage is boosted? Guess what... the price of everything goes up! In effect all your minimum wage hike did was make the money of those that make more than minimum wage worth less. Minimum wage is not a wage that is intended for raising a family... funny how you criticize your boss for not being able to pay more, it really shows your morals. Do unto others.....

Why don't you take some college courses on economics? You need them.

You are ignorant. If I remember correctly the dummacrats also took the congeessional pay raises. Your statements have no validity whatsoever.

The minimum wage should be lowered. Then you would get off your *** and do something about your life. No more hand outs.

People who work for minimum wage didn't work hard enough earlier in life, thats why they don't make much. You sow what you reap

congress is already looking into it for next yr....they have yet to take off remember...thats not till January.

next.....the republicans don't want to raise it as most republicans are large business owners and this means less profit for them cause they have to pay you more.

rich are rich....they prefer to stay rich, want to be richer and only want to be around the rich. they have no clue what it means to go to work, save money, count pennies, etc. no person in congress knows that feeling as they all make about $165k per year and more in perks.
