I don't want to delete any of my permanent things on my profile videos, info, etc. However I do have a lot of large html comments from friends that I'm assuming would help speed up the process if deleted...any other suggestions?

nope, comments are mostly text. it is the fastest thing which will load on your page and removing it will make no difference to load times.
it's things like high resolution pictures, videos, animations, and music which make a page load slowly because often all large those elements will need be loaded before the whole page is 'functional'.

You can take down some of your videos and put them on the MY VIDEO part of you page, and do the same for my pictures. So that way they will still be on your page, but not slowing your page upload.

you can try disabling html comments so that way no one can leave you pictures or videos. should help for the loading to be faster

delete large backgound, and image files. Those may take longer to load than anything.
