First, know your material! The more you know what you are talking about, the easier it will be to get in front of a class and talk about it. Second, make an outline of the material, instead of taking your speech up to talk. If you take your entire speech, then you might start reading -- thats not so good in the oral report grade category, if you're just reading. If you need to, make index cards with each point you want to make in the report, and add a few details that you want to talk about on each card. Third, PRACTICE! Give your report to family members or friends -- many will be more than happy to have you practice on them! Have them give you suggestions, and tell them to listen for "ums" and "likes". Listen to their advice, then practice the report again, keeping those suggestions in mind.
As for getting nervous -- relax! You are definately not the only one in the class who will be nervous to talk. I've never found that "imagining people in their underwear" works. Take some deep breaths before you go up, and look for good friends in the class while you are talking. If you make eye contact with these people (don't just pick one!!) then it will be less stressful. Good Luck!!!
One addition: Its okay to make eye contact, and teachers do not always "look mean" when listening to oral reports. I'm a teacher myself, and the kids who do make eye contact with me do BETTER than they would if they hadn't made eye contact.

Take deep breaths before going up there and make sure you give everyone in the class eye contact. Don't fidget, and use a podium if the teacher has one. Practice your report at home first so you won't come off like you are just reading from the paper. This will also help you concentrate on your eye contact on Tuesday if you are familiar with your report before hand. Good luck! All of these worked for me when I was in school. I hated getting up in front of the class, and still really hate giving presentations in front of groups.

You should practice your speech a lot and know it like the back of your hand. When I do that, I'm usually nervous for the first 30 seconds of speaking to the class, but when everything goes all right, I get over it and actually start getting bored because it's too easy.

For starters the imagining them in their underwear trick doesn't work. Try not to make eye contact, if you have to stand in the front of the room and talk concentrate on something in the back of the room. Just remember DO NOT make eye contact with teachers they always look mean. GOOD LUCK!!

This is how I did it. I found a spot on the back wall and looked at it. Every now and then I made eye contact with a person I considered to be a friend. This really works!

before you give your presentation try to visualize yourself giving it. say your speech in your head and picture what you're going to do with your hands. when you finally are at the front of the class be loud. don't talk at your feet or hide behind your notes if you have them. notes do help because your mind tends to go totally blank but don't stare at them the whole time. if you get the class to laugh it makes you much more relaxed. hope your speech goes well!

Know the material inside out is one helpful suggestion. Practice for your parents/grandma etc. and rememebr to breath deeply through out the talk. You can speak slowly - which is actually better - and stop and think if you get flustered. Make them think it is a dramatic pause!

Just remember that you are all in the same boat. They aren't judging you. They know you are doing the same thing they will have to do.
I always thought that they weren't going to be be any better or worse than me so who cares anyway..
