Not if it is only occasional, prolonged head banging may cause more damage to the neck and spine, and in some instances has caused blood clots. Off course these would not be obvious at the time. So like all things in life Moderation is the Answer.

Yeah, your brain moves, and it can cause damage if you did it hard enough or long enough. Your brain has a fluid cushion around it, and as long as you are sober, you'll hurt if you are banging it really hard or for a long time.. and so unless you are stupid, you stop or tone it down when you are hurting yourself.. so a little bit wouldn't cause brain damage. But if you're intoxicated and can't feel the pain caused by your brain bashing around in there, and you do it hard for a long time, you could cause inflammation or even bleeding that could lead to brain damage.

Studies show that yes in fact head banging does cause brain cells to damage, depending on the momentum of the head banging. Side effects can include MASSIVE migraines and possibly seizures. If I where you I would not "head bang," rather gently nod my head.

You can get pulled muscles or neck damage from long periods of headbanging. One headbanger not long ago was told to stop or he would have a brain hemmorage. I don't remember who it was but I think you'd have to have a problem already to damage your brain. It also depends on the force.
