I always do for the first month or so. It seems like they are too hyper, noisy, needy, or just aren't as good as the last dog. After a while I get used to them & discover their individual good qualities.
I keep them for life, regardless of first impressions & they all have turned out to be exceptional in their own way.

I have a Blue fronted Amazon. I've had it for 19 years and don't regret getting it. He can be loud but he is an interesting pet. He is a lot like a dog in that it likes your attention. The one thing you have to remember is they live for a very long time. My parrot will probably out live me. So you have to plan for that also. Are you ready to have a bird for the next 15 to 75 year. It's a big responsibility. Most small birds will live 15 to 20 years. I also have two conures that are over 20 years old. You are right to think before you buy. You also will be taking vacations at times and you have to have someone take care of them for you, they need to be bird people. Not all people like birds or are afraid of them. Good luck.

I now regret that I got the tank of fish. Its horrible. You gotta clean the fu***g tank every 3 days and those fish eat like a ****** dinasour. They eat this huge can of 2lbs a week. and we gotta buy a good filter for them and buy them a new tank every month because the fu** it up. So we spend like 70 a month which is a rediculous price to have five goldfish.

People who regret getting pets make me mad! If you can't cope then don't buy one in the first place! It's people like you who raise the stats for homeless dogs

My third, and last parakeet. I got her because my first parakeet was lonely, but that last one was just a bad bird. She was completely untrainable. I ended up giving her to a pet rescue facility that worked with metally disabled kids.

Yes. Just last month we got a dog and he is way too hyper. He doesn't listen, he barks too much, he won't leave you alone , and he chases my cats all of the time.

Never. The ones I used to pick were usually runts or in other ways unwanted by other people. I got them to be happy or loving.
