Seems to me the only people it can help are the ones who have unreconciled issues with their father from their childhood, because whatever you go into these guys needing help with they seem to bring it back to that scenario every time. It's a cop out, and one hell of an hourly rate.

I don't 'think' counselling really helps anyone, I know it helps many many people every day of the year. It helps them not just for the days they are at counselling but for the long term.

If you are thinking of going to counselling then go for it. There really is nothing to lose and plenty to gain.

Well I think that if you've been offered the chance of counselling, you might as well give it a go.................otherwise you'll never know. I think it depends on the person and the problem. Speaking to a stranger sometimes helps people who are not as fortunate to have close family/friends to speak to.
These people do know how to find out your problems and can also help you tackle any demons you have to deal with !

I think it may help some peeps but we didn't have it after we was told our son was going to die after a road accident , he didn't die but he was not the same boy , it was like another person was living in his body , we overcame this on our own , my partner & I are still finding some situations hard but we have each other to lean on and to talk to , Plus we are both very strong characters as we are Bikers ! Also we had a lot of friends and their support ,I think it must help some people espescially if they don't have a lot of mates or family as talking about your problems does help, so if you need to talk then do so.

Yes... but like anything else in life, it's success is determined by how much of yourself you are willing to invest in it.

When I was young, seeing a counselor just made me pissy and angry. I wasn't ready to be honest. Later on it really helped me, because I actually wanted to find solutions to my problems. (There was still anger - but at the past, not misdirected at the counselor, myself, or the people I love).

counselling does help if the person receiving it believes it does, it`s only that person who can truly answer this question...

absolutely - but i believe that the best therapy is talking to close friends or family members - doesn't have to be formal counselling

In most cases,,,,No!!! unless you really are NOT in denial of the problems that you present them with. If you go councelling just to please someone and not for your own convicing, then it is very much unlikely to work.
