Jehovah's Witnesses abhor abuse and domestic violence. Witnesses fully understand that their role as a religion is in providing comfort to the victim and her family, warning to potential victims, extolling Christian peaceableness and righteousness, and eventually perhaps in couseling a repentant sinner.

Government workers such as police and prosecutors are generally empowered to pursue criminal matters. Jehovah's Witnesses always work in obedience to secular law and deference to the personal decisions of victims (and their families, where practical). Jehovah's Witness ministers do not investigate criminal matters, leaving such matters to law enforcement authorities.

An unrepentant baptized Jehovah's Witness who is found guilty of a serious secular crime is likely to be disfellowshipped (or "excommunicated", although Witnesses do not use this latter term). However, a sin against God's supreme authority is clearly a different matter from a sin against secular superior authorities. The standards for criminal conviction and forced religious disassociation will never be identical.

Domestic violence is a violation of the moral principles of the Society and as it is also a crime, the police would be involved, though they would have already been noticing something was wrong from the onset.

The significant difference with JWs from other religions is people feel they can do wrong and still be an active member of the church, though that usually just means going to church once a week. In JWs, being an active member involves far more than just going to church once a week. It involves regular study, a group Bible study once a week, ministerial school once a week, Sunday Bible study and public talk, plus going out in the field work every couple of weeks.

When a witness begins experiencing personal problems, it first begins showing up in their congregation activities. Since the congregations are not so large that the individual gets lost in the crowd, it gets noticed. The elders begin asking what is wrong. This type of involvement is one of the reasons JWs have the lowest divorce rates in the world at 6% compared to 26% for every other religion, except the Amish, which runs 8%.

Jehovah's Witnesses take a very dim view on domestic violence and other matters, the elders in the congregation would look into issues from a biblical point of view but they do use the police to investigate matters just as much as anyone else would. They are not against the police or the judicial system as long as there is no direct conflict with their bible based convictions.

You completely misunderstood the full adventure. After analyzing the verses in a million Corinthians 13, she made the assertion that her husband in no way does those issues for her. however the sister helped her to verify that SHE grew to become into the only attempting to be a Christian, not her husband. In different words, how are you able to anticipate somebody who has no desire to worship Jehovah to have a similar ethical techniques as somebody who's attempting to? that's what the sister needed her to get excitement from. She in no way as quickly as mentioned stay with your husband or go away him. The bible supplies grounds for separation and divorce. this is the persons own option to pass away or stay, offered they comprehend completely what the consequences of that would carry. Questions like the only you only published are regularly made by ability of somebody attempting to make excuses not worship Jehovah. If that may not what you wanna do, be a woman/ guy approximately it and walk away. no person is forcing you. yet to go out of your thank you to talk ill of Jehovah's company spells coward and wicked. do not drag individuals into your mess. go down on my own.

Jehovah's Witnesses recognize the seriousness of this problem and even have written articles that are designed to help women in these situations.

The following is a link to a series of articles that discuss domestic violence.

the use of the police and the legal system is fine as long as it doesn't go against their own principles. They would never join the police force as they may comprimise their beliefs
