Fred on I love Lucy, i heard he was a drunk, and hated Ethel, would just come in do his scenes and leave? Anyone else heard this? How did he die?

Poor health forced his retirement. He collapsed of a heart attack on March 3, 1966, at age 79, walking along Hollywood Boulevard after seeing a movie. He is buried in San Fernando Mission Cemetery. If you follow the source link you'll find a lot more information.
