In the two trilogies there are a total of 6 movies. It started out with Episodes 4-6, and the prequels came out with episodes 1-3. It was initially meant to be a 3 trilogies with Episodes 4-6 being the middle part of the storyline. Lucas decided to scrap that, though rumors have been swirling that a 7th movie may be made. In terms of the storyline's chronological order, the movies are as follows:
Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999)
Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002)
Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Episode IV: A New Hope (1977)
Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983)
To date, three films and three animated series have been produced for television, with a live-action series in pre-production. For the most part, Lucas has played a large role in the production of the television projects — usually serving as storywriter and/or executive producer. The productions are as follows:
The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978)
Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure (1984)
Star Wars: Droids (1985)
Star Wars: Ewoks (1985)
Ewoks: The Battle for Endor (1985)
Star Wars: Clone Wars (2-D series) (2003)
Star Wars: Clone Wars (3-D series) (to be released 2007)
Star Wars live-action TV series (tentative 2007)
Although The Ewok Adventure, later renamed Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure, played in theaters in Europe and Australia and is technically a Star Wars feature film, it is generally associated with television.

There are 7 live action movies, three animated movies and 1 documentary that I am certain of.
The first six everyone has told you about. The seventh movie is about Ewoks and a little blonde girl on Endor.
The cartoons are about the ewoks and about the clone wars in two parts.
The documentary is about R2D2 beneath the dome
There is a bonus video for the first three movies.
There have been three remakes of the first three movies. Each time they were remade the videos changed a little.
So depending on how you count them , the answer is either 11 or 17.

6 in the original 2 trilogies.
9 counting the reduxes.
2 more if you include the Ewoks adventure
plus 100's of specials, cartoons and behind the scenes.
Lucas is currently trying to destroy the Star Wars Christmas Special.
Or only 1, Star Wars, before it was renamed Star Wars:the New Hope
