If you rent one they will go over the instructions with you as to how they operate, we have rented on several times and once you get on to it they are a breeze, it wouldn't take you that long to grind it out, however I would cut the stump as low to the ground as you can get it as it will save you time with the grinder.

Trust me if you rent it they will be abundantly clear about how it is used...that is a massive job and oak is REALLY hard...I would imagine it is a job better left to someone else's health insurance...first the stump has to be at ground level...does that mean you're now renting a chain saw? You have now spent $400 and you have not spent the time and gas and transported the grinder...do you have a vehicle with a trailer hitch? oops, more money...be careful out there...

I think I would get another estimate. We had one dug up for about $150 a few years ago. It looked like a lot of work to do. It's kind of like a giant mixer that goes in and cuts up the old roots and spits them out. Looked pretty dangerous too. Be careful

i've got heard human beings consume human dung too to sell digestive well being. i've got heard an astounding sort of dumb issues in my existence and attempt to piece out the somewhat dumb from the "that sounds stable." do you like your lawnmower or your legs after your finished? Your lawnmower would be shot to crap. Your legs will, in case you're fortunate, basically have 20,000 splinters embedded. in case you at the instant are not fortunate, i will see only a sprint the lawnmower blade dealing with your legs. So, in case you do no longer want your lawnmower or legs, considering you have a stump on your backyard, decide for it. otherwise, attempt and p.c.. out the quite dumb suggestion you hear in existence from the "that sounds stable." this could be a case of the former, no longer the latter.

That sounds like a better plan to me. I have never handled one myself but I have seen them used and if you can work a chain saw you will have no problem.
