Those images are famous paintings done by the artist named underneath. They are not portraits of the artists. Leonardo Da Vinci was a Male. In English it would be Leonard of Vinci. Hope that clarrifies things.

Your linked page shows examples of the artists' work, not self portraits. Leonardo was male; the subject of that particular painting was a woman.

Physically speaking he was a man, sexuality wise it is wide thought that he was homosexual.
Many reports say that that the "mona lisa" was a self portrait, where he depicted himself as an androgyne, that is a person displaying charecteristics of both men and women, there are plenty of famous peopl around like that today such as david bowie, eddie izzard, boy george, annie lennox and millions of regular people too. just peopl who are in touch with both genders.

He a male... and maybe thats one of his paintings? If you noticed, most of the male artists have a picture of a women... also, I think the way they did self potraits was to combine them with a different person... or something like that =P
