I think so. The media has never been completely fair to us with regard to how we're portrayed. No group of people falls into one category of anything. I'm sure it's discouraging for many of us. I think it's a shame.

It's both the media and maybe black celebrities (actors, singers, and rappers) who play along with that stereotype. Mostly because they all make money one way or another if Blacks display themselves that way. Not that it's an original image. (Most Black men/women entertainers adopted that image since the late 60's) I guess that due to that form of mind control over the years, that stereotypical image got molded (and still getting molded) into Black men and woman's personalities. Mostly only Black men and woman who are born with awareness in their mind and hearts can see that this image is nothing more than a creation by Black men and women and those who want to profit from it. Thank god, I'm one of the aware.

I personally think so.
They DO feed off the negative because unfortunately, America is full of bigots and that all they want to see.
They put on a front complaining about these types of blacks, but they have mentioned NOTHING about the EDUCATED (college degree)SUCCESSFUL and WELL-OFF blacks.
In fact, they love the Jim Crow types.
You'll be surprised at how many of us is out there compared to the stereotypical black.

I used to wonder if there were more street crime in black neighborhoods or if this was just a result of the media just focusing on those crimes and not reporting others. I recently met a high-ranking police official in NYC and had the opportunity to pose the question to someone who would actually know. The answer was a resounding YES and that most street crimes are committed by young black males. Not to say that most young black males are criminals, that would be absolutely false,
I work with abused children and the preponderance of these children in NYC are African American. But do we know that most abusers are Black? Or can we say they are most likely to be reported ?

The media is adding to the sterotyping of all people.
Have you noticed just about every asian person is doing some kind of karata?
White women are protrayed as whores.. "Girls gone wild"
Hispanics are maids or illegals..
I could on and on and on...

I'm so gonna get blasted for this....
If they wouldn't provide the material, the media wouldn't have anything to work with. Black people always complain about how they get held down.. in my opinion they are only holding themselves down by acting the victim. Quite frankly I'm getting tired of my tax dollars paying for some welfare mom with 10 kids to sit on her ***, black or white.

No, Black Americans stereotyped themselves..
For example "African-Americans"...
Why describe themselves as less than full Americans ??
Are you an American or not ?
You are certainly not "African"..
Africa is a continent you have never visited and probably never will.
