i love scootering and i read an article in NY times magazine and i am curious to see if the article is true when it says that scooters do not hurt the enviornment

but they put out less exhaust than the million suv's. in America.
Your gas powered bicycle may pollute less, but it still pollutes.

if you're that worried about the environment, walk or take a bike to work.

I'm not sure which form of junk science to believe anyways, I thought it really was the "fact" that farting cows were killing us. (?)

its not true that they dont hurt at all, but the sure hurt alot less than cars and suvs. Anything that runs by the internal combustion of a fossil fuel creates polution, but by riding instead of driving, you greatly reduce the amount of emmisions into the atmosphere as well as reduced wear on the road surface, and less raw materials needed to produce a bike rather than a car. They arent perfect, but when walking or riding a bicycle isnt an option they beat cars hands down. Check out the Ride to Work organizations website for more info on how motorcycles are lower impact that cars.
