I was shocked when I read about Gerald Levert's death in Yahoo's entertainment site. He died at his home in Cleveland on Friday November 10. Gerald was only 40 years old. He was a soulful crooner as well as a producer and songwriter. Gerald has made such beautiful ballads that touched women's hearts. He was definitely born to sing. Gerald leaves behind his father, Eddie Levert of the O'Jays, brothers Sean and Eddie Jr., mother, four children, family, friends, and millions of fans. He will be sorely missed. Gerald music and legacy will live on. Feel free to share your thoughts.

I was reading about the upcoming service for Gerald Levert and it stated that he has seven siblings. The only sibling I knew about was his brother Sean.

Its truly ashame that we lost another giant in the business of soul singers. I had the pleasure of meeting Gerald many years ago in the nation's capitol and remembered how warm and sincere of a human being he was. Beacuase of the on going weight problem that he and Luther suffered from , Im not surprised but will miss him and the music that we in this generation became so familiar with. There are only a few good soul singers left, Dave Hollister, Eric Benet and Brian McNight. I dont consider R. Kelly, Genuwine, or the young bucks of today great singers. Their music and voices can not compare to the forementioned artist. I pray that the Levert family finds strength in knowing that Gerald's purpose those short was forfilled. That he brought to us with his music and his powerful voice a legacy that will not be forgotten. GOD loaned Gerald to us and now he is home. His voice will carry on throgh radio, cd's and records around the world. We love you Gerald. May GOD keep you near...Peace

The thing that strikes me the most was that he was only 40!! Thats way to young to die. He was a talented guy from a talented family. He had his mainstream success but he was definantely a staple in the black community especially during the late 80's. Everytime I think of Gerald the first song that pops into me head is Casanova (which was actually done by a group he had with brother and a friend called Levert). I must have been around 8 when it came out, and it reminds me of the summer. R.I.P.

Very sad. I was always a fan from the beginning when I first heard Cassanova. He had his father's big beautiful voice, but he also had his own style. Gerald Levert had talent and class, and he was a good role model. He will be missed. RIP.
