I would give the Democrats 2 states to ruin and keep the rest for the GOP. We would stop entitlements, abortion, gay marriage, and we would enact a flat tax...ah - HEAVEN on earth!

I have no idea if this is including the impossible or not. But *if* I could fix any problem, I'd fix the division of core interests in the American government, and amongst the American people. If you strengthen the roots, the entire tree will flourish. The main problem the USA is facing now is itself. Almost no one can agree on what to do. The controversy is starting to cause the USA to be incapable of doing anything at all. I think the main thing we should do right now is try to find some common grounds that most people can support and employ them. Because obviously the methods that are currently being employed, and those that most likely will be employed in the near-future aren't working.

As a conservative, who is registered Democrat, but usually vote Republican, I would force all Politicians to forget all the partisan politics, and work together to solve the issues of our country. Health care is out of sight. Crime in our streets are as bad as Baghdad. Immigration needs to be overhauled, since we dont have a clue as to who or what is entering our country. Social Security needs to be reformed and quit letting illegals receive without paying in. Our education system is a farce and needs to be fixed. Schools are in a state of disrepair, mostly in the inner cities. Tenure needs to be abolished, and teachers rewarded on merit and students test scores. Unions need to be outlawed, and wages determined on length of service and a persons ability, not because a Union says you have to pay this amount. Age discimination is a big problem as well. A person age 50 or above, should be considered for employment on the same level as someone age 35. So to sum this up, our representative government needs to start representing we the people, not all the lobbyists, unions and other governments of the world. All politicians should be replaced after 8 years of service to prevent the power struggles that exist now.

The problem I would fix is taxes and my solution would be the proposed Flat Tax, in which everybody paid the same amount!!!! It is wrong to punish us for making "too" much money, when I have a college degree and a job that pays well. I worked to hard to get where I am at now, only to be put in a high tax bracket!!!!

Unemployment. I know people working 2 or 3 jobs & others who claim there is no work for them. However the best way to fix that is through education.

I would walk away from NAFTA, GATT, WTO, CAFTA and all other so called free trade deals. And go back to tariffs, that have protected US jobs for over 200 years.

I would end entitlement programs to all except the elderly and disabled. No more welfare and food stamps if you're able to work. The savings would be astronomical, and could be put into charter schools.
