Hate to say this Peaches but if your man is selfish in your marriage then you picked the wrong men and should have waited until you found someone better. It goes both ways... there are just as many selfish wives as there are selfish husbands. Better still, there are millions of us who are married who could not be happier with our choices, my wife is the best ever!

This is a generalization. It appears as if the men you know are selfish, but not all men are like this. Some are quite giving, and some women are selfish in marriage.
The question to ask yourself is: is what I'm perceiving as selfishness being misunderstood? Some men prefer to have a lot of time alone, and sometimes, that's perceived as selfishness.
But a lot of men aren't selfish at all.

Why do people ask questions involving huge sweeping generalizations about the other sex?
Exactly how many men have you been married to for you to make such an observation? 15? 20? More?
"Men" aren't selfish in marriage, any more than "women" get the ring and then go frigid.
So, in reality, are you talking about just *your* husband, or are you listening to a girlfriend complain about just her husband?
Try focusing your question a bit more next time.

Personally, I know JUST as many WOMEN who are JUST as selfish in their marriage.
my husband works 50-60 hours a week, outside whether its 100 degrees or 2 feet of snow....He financially supports us...Goes to church with me and the kids...sits down to dinner with us every night. Sometimes he doesn't feel like chit-chatting. Sometimes he's too busy to be sympathetic to my long day. Sometime he just needs to get away and go target practicing or ride his Hyabusa....Does that make him selfish?? NOT a chance. It makes him human.
Sometimes he puts his foot down when I really want something and says nope...we're not buying that...does that make him selfish?? Nope..it means I don't have to worry about having the $$ to pay the regular household bills next week.
Yep, some men are selfish...some women are...but i think a lot of times a woman thinks if her man disagrees with what SHE wants...he's being selfish. If man doesn't DO what SHE wants...he's being selfish...he needs time to himself...Selfish.
i say give him a break or leave him and keep searching for that ever evasive "perfect" man.

There is always one person that is selfish in a marriage. It is not always the man. Everyone should know that in a marriage, one person will always give more than the other. It's a fact of life!

depends on what both parties idea of what a marriage is. Some people believe that a woman should be barefoot and pregnant while her husband works 50-60 hours a week. Some people believe that both parties should work and share house chores.

Selfish in what way? I suppose a lot of men figure if they're the major bread winners, they are entitled to do as they please.
Not all men are like this, though.
Do you think women are less selfish? maybe because we have that nuturing gene and put the family's needs before our own.
way too generalized.......just my opinion

They aren't all selfish....Just as often the woman is the selfish one. And, fortunately, you find the relationships where neither one tends to be selfish. As to why anyone is selfish, I think it's often because they were spoiled brats when growing up....
