Eminem first CD came out in 1998 or 1999, anyway, rap music has changed alot since then (gotten worse). And yeah, alot of good artist do get too comfortable when they make alot of money, and they just "skate along" with what everybody else is rapping/singing about. Not saying that Eminem is wack, but his style has changed since 98/99.

He put out the first album before he got famous and cocky and thought he was better than any other artist out there. And yeah, drugs and not caring probably have a lot to do with it too.

Its quite simple really... When Em. first came out, he was the "new" thing... wow , a white rapper who is actually pretty damn good. Now.. its old news.. its the same old.
ALSO... em. became soft... very soft. He isn't able to burt out anger like he used too, because, He isn't angry any more.. he has a loving daughter, and has no longer feels the passion for violence as he used to.
But honestly, i like his new songs better... its more mellow. But i can see why some people don't like it... it became too... soft.

musicians, artists, actors, etc all fall under a category of "artist".
well most artists do their best work when they are poor, down on their luck, life is hard on them, etc.
once you make it, become rich, etc you no longer strive for that extra step, extra mile....you no longer hold that true passion and feeling of dispare, etc as now you are wealthy and have no worries.
I have even noticed this in myself doing web designs.....yrs ago when I started and wasn't making much money....my design work then blows away the work I do today.

I believe he is more laid-back, because of his newly obtained fame. Maybe he has solved his emotional problems, that were a subject of his previous album. Or maybe he has no inspiration. It can happen to all artists, you know.
