Info on how the NHRA pays out:

http://www.nhra.com/apcm/templates/about.asp?articleid=3262&zoneid=101

"NHRA and POWERade's total payout to competitors in 2005 will be more than $3 million, including the NHRA POWERade championship points fund and NHRA POWERade Top 10 bonus program."

Considering that Tony Stewart alone had nearly $7 million in winnings in 2005, I think it's safe to say that NASCAR pays more than NHRA.

(Edited to pull 2005 stats for more "apples to apples" comparison)

It depends-Drag racing's elite like Tony Shumacher and John Force earn a lot more money than NASCAR back markers do. It really depends on which driver/team you are talking about, some drivers have to pay their team for the privilege of driving. Some drivers own their own team, and thus end up going broke.

Nascar drivers make more money than almost anyone besides F1. They get money from the race purses, endorsement deals, and souvenier sales. Drag racers aren't even close, but nothing in this world compares to a Top Fuel dragster making a 4.5 second pass.

I appreciate all 3 of those, yet... i did not look after drag racing till I observed it stay. And now i'm thoroughly hooked. it is so outstanding. Seeing a automobile bypass from 0 to a hundred in below one 2nd is incredible. And the noise, and the Earth shakes. it is severe.
