Even with Momo out injured, why in the name of Geogre's Marvellous Medicine does Bolo Zenden get to play in what could be one of the best teams in the Prem?

Hats off to Arsenal, although the Gunner's consistency isn't as good as it should be, today they were a touch of class. Liverpool couldn't compete, because of ineffective players and a lack of teeth. Alonso and Kuyt playing well just couldn't save a bad side with an awful keeper - how many times has Reina been nutmegged this season?!

In all honesty, although I'm critical of a few players I haven't lost hope. There's a bigger picture. For example, last season Liverpool were in a similar position to this, and the season has only just started. People are very quick to get the knives out on a team who have had debatabley the hardest start to this season.

Villa haven't really had any tough games, and their lack of an actual squad will show. Bolton the same. Given all of the cups, except one - the one Liverpool won - are still available, I think time will tell what.

I think Carra is still a marvel, but I have to disagree with the opinion that Gerrad has had a good season. He hasn't settled since the world cup and can't seem to fire on all cylinders, which is one of the reasons Mono - the player with the best consistency in the squad - and Xabi (who frequently has superb games) keep him out of the centre of midfield. Kuyt consistenly tries, too, and will start scoring when the team starts playing. Time will tell..

Bolo Zenden played today because of Rafa's rotational system and as a Liverpool player why shouldn't he play? All the Liverpool players were a pale shadow of their usual self hence the hammering they received.
As for Reina, I think he finds himself in the team simply because he is Rafa's countryman. Dudek wasn't perfoming well last year so the same can be said of Reina but as for today's goals, I think we may absolve him from blame as most of the goals were due to poor defending.

I don't think it matters who plays for Liverpool at the moment.

With the exception of Stevie G, Carragher, and to a certain extent Peter Crouch, none of the other "Superstars" in the squad care. They don't know what it means to play for a once all conquering side such as Liverpool, but then again, I don't think the manager does either.

Looks to me like Liverpool are set up to play in Europe or the cup competitions. They can turn it on for those one off type games, but the players know they will all get paid and picked next week.

Trouble is, once Liverpool go out of Europe, and the domestic cup competitions, whats left? A challenge for 4th place? They're not good enough to overhaul Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United at the top. The way things are going too, they may not even make 4th, with the likes of Bolton, Everton and Aston Villa all improving this season.

I think the worst thing that could have happened to Liverpool was for Benitez to have been in charge for the champions league victory. Its given him a sort of immunity from criticism. When things go well, and Liverpool fight back during a game, the commentators all refer back to that night in Istanbul. Benitez has not really done anything else. Sure, he lead Liverpool to an FA cup win, but that was lucky...last minute inspiration from Stevie G...but you would have thought that with the amount of money he has spent, and the size of squad, he could have achieved some level of consistency.

liverpool will do themselves a favor by finding a new coach who is able to select a good team and play the right formations not what banitez is doing right now. what was gerard doing on the right flank especially with momo injured? only an insane person will do that! hats off arsenal, beware the blues and the manchester boys, we are coming!

i agree, kuyt again, was are best player. zenden was poor, but gonzalez was worse!! reina has gotta be put under pressure now,by dudek. i would of pushed riise up to midfield, and dropped gonzalez(literally),and put warnock at the back. maybe even let gerrard play in the middle, and put garcia in instead of zenden. ynwa.

I haven't got a clue, I don't know why Benitez bought Zenden, Gonzalez or Pennant.

I think he should have gone for Darren Bent
