Where is the likely destination? Would it be wise to deal with Philly? That's the kinda thing that can bite you in the asss.

I realize Buffalo would not want to trade him but I also realize he should be a starter somewhere..

I don't think that Biron will move this year. He accepted a paycut to stay with the Sabres knowing that he will be a back-up. He wants to play in Buffalo. I think that Buffalo needs to keep him around because Miller hasn't proven to be a sturdy goaltender. Miller had the same problem when he played in Rochester......the schedule in the NHL is more rigorous. I think Buffalo needs to keep Biron as an insurance policy.

I'm a Sabres fan in San Jose, so I'll give you an opinion that's hopefully objective. First, the Sabres won't trade Biron unless they get someone of equal value in return: either a competent back-up, or, if there's a goalie waiting in Rochester, a player to complement what they may be missing (e.g., replacement for an injured defenseman). I also don't think they'll trade Biron during the run to the playoffs unless they start to slide.

Second, it's unlikely that Biron will go to the Flyers or, unless the offer is outstanding, to another Eastern conference team. Here's why: a couple years ago, the Sharks traded back-up Mika Kipprusoff to Calgary for a second round draft pick. Kipper hadn't been playing well, and the Sharks had rated Vesa Toskala a better choice to back up Nabokov than Kipper. Kipper became as good in Calgary as did Hasek in Buffalo, and beat the Sharks in the playoffs. So, if a team is trading a good player, they'll make every effort to trade him to a team in the other conference.

I expect Marty to be with the Sabres for the full year, or , if not, to go to a Western Conference team.

I doubt they will. Miller is already hurt, he was hurt last year, and he hasn't proven he can handle the entire NHL season. He wore down towards the end of the year last season before he picked it up again in the playoffs. The 3rd goalie is very young and has only played 5 games in Rochester this year. Not someone you would want to rely on to take you to the cup if you don't have too. Also, the sabres got some sort of financial break on Tim Connollys contract because he still can't play. Makes it easier to deal with Birons $2 mill. Philly would not trade for Biron. Their problem is the old slow players they have. Nittymaki and Esche will be fine when they fix the problems with the rest of the team.

The Sabres aren't going to trade Biron. Period. I would be extremely suprised if they did. Just look at what's happened. Miller went down with a little injury, and the Sabres rattle off 3 wins (in OT of course). Biron isn't THAT expensive for a backup, and Lindy Ruff has said on multiple occasions that they are keeping Biron around because Ruff says he doesn't mind paying a little extra for a good insurance policy. Besides, the Flyers aren't going to trade for Biron. The only player they have that Buffalo wants is Forsberg. However, with all the shakeups in the front office in Philly, there is no way that they are going to trade their only real "name" player for a goalie who is an excellent backup.

Why would the Sabres trade Biron, considering he's 5-0? And it probably won't be to Philly anyways because there's no one good Philly can give back. I think the Sabres would be looking to get more young talent, maybe on defense.

Biron will be out for sure once the right deal comes along he is a #1 goalie and he will not want to stay with Buffalo any longer if other teams are interested in him. by trade deadline he will mostly be with another team. hes a damn good goalie and deserves to be #1.

Philly already called and Regier told them to go away.....he wouldn't trade him there.

I hope we keep him for now, I know Marty deserves to be a starter somewhere but he is a real team player and not too discontent.

Things change really fast in this league---Miller is out for now and thank God we've got Biron.

I picked him up in fantasy league hoping they would trade him and become a starter somewhere. Last week changed things, if they want to make a good run in the playoffs they'll hold on so they have two starting goalies giving them options in case one is hurt. He's too good to trade to a rival, teams and fans hate to do that. Maybe he'll go to Detroit where they like to collect goalies.

First contender to lose their goalie to an injury and has something young a cheapo and good to give back. My gut says Detroit.
