Sometimes the carbonation can help. I get sick when I'm pregnant also. But I think if you find something you can keep down, go for it. Your food/drink of choice is different than mine. When I'm pregnant and sick, sometimes all I can eat is - now brace yourself cause I'm gonna name a food - chocolate. But for really controlling the nausea, my doctor had me take Unisom (a sleeping pill) and vitamin B6. I took both pills every 8 hours. For the first week or so, I would be extremely drowsy from the Unisom, but then my body adjusted and I could function nausea-free! Ask your doctor if you can try that. Good Luck!

I think that you have just found something that settles with your stomach. When you are in the first trimester of a pregnancy it can be very hard on your stomach. If it helps you eat and get nutrition to the baby then I would drink the root beer to get you through.

This is in no way scientific, merely personal experience, but I've found with nausea myself that drinking something that is carbonated(I find Gingerale the best) seems to settle my stomach when I'm nauseous. I would think that something about the carbonation gasses seem to balance out the mechanism for vomiting. I know other people who have had the same experience, but I understand it doesn't work for everyone.

As far as I know, yes root beer and coke syrup help with nausea. Some drugstores sell it over the counter in syrup form. I have used it myself and for my children and grandchildren. Another one that helps is ginger ale.

Root beer has something that increases the amount of gases in your stomach that may cause a riff-raff. Be careful of anything that has "Makdrake's root" because that's a diuretic and a half.

I craved root beer throughout my second pregnancy. I'm not sure if there's a specific reason it helps, but whatever works keep doing it! Congratulations on the baby.

you never know what will help with that. Through both my pregnancies I ate altoids every night to help with nausea. Good for you for finding something that works for you!
