Forgetting about geothermal and wind powered devices the most efficient type seems to be gas or oil fired condensing type which heat water which flows through convector radiators.
An offshoot or this is underfloor type heating, where plastic pipes are buried in concrete in the floor.
In a double sized room if convectors are not properly placed, then there is likely to be a" thermal gradient' in other words, a wedge shaped column of hot air creating an internal "draught'
So place convector rads on opposite sides of the room, preferably NOT under windows. Don't forger to add inhibitor to prevent internal rusting.. If you require more details I am at [e-mail] My normal box is not working.
