take something that is hard and a few inches above ground level(maybe a thick book)then put one foot on it and do the splits as far down as u can with your foot on the book.then after like 2 or 3 minutes switch legs.then try to do the splits without the book it should be alot better.also stretch a lot.another way is ask some1 to help u:do the splits as far as u can then inhale and when u exhale tell the person to push u down just a little and just do that until u cant go down any farther.

I take dance. and trust me, splits don't come fast, esp. if u r not flexible like me. pretty much, just practice your splits. don't just go into them first. first stretch by going into a lunge with your front leg perpendicular to the floor. then put your back knee on the ground and press against your front leg, make sure you keep your leg perpendicular. then practice your splits. hold them for about 8 seconds. then, take a deep breath and push down furtherand hold for about 4 seconds. but don't come out of your split fast, lift out slowly, or then there's no point. if you can hold your splits longer than do that.. practice your splits many times. I had a friends do it about 10 times a day. i thought that was crazy but it worked. but try it first at three times a week. and gradually up it to once a day

the way I learned, I just went as far as I can go and hold it for as long as I can, building up to do the front and side splits, but my thighs were really sore, so I think this website can help....it gives you an idea of all the stretches are done and how they help

acceptable way is to do an entire stretch work out thrice an afternoon. be certain you utilize alot of isometric stretches (look up what the term potential i'm too dumb to describe it one million/2 besides as others can). Isometrics are fantastically lots seen to be the quickest thank you to attain a much wider selection of action, plus iso's build potential in that selection of action besides that's what's certainly significant.

try first doing a split with only one leg out, curl one in and extend the other, also try just easily working your way, start by standing a little wider then usual, then a little bit more, until it hurts mildly, try this every day, until you can do a split.

This was asked about a week ago. One answer recommended this web site:
http://www.piczo.com/stretchclass?g=7419612&cr=2
I took a look at the site and looked pretty good. I even e-mailed the person who runs the site. She is the one who posted this link.
I'm going to recommend it to all my dancers who want to get their splits.
