Yes. If you are too lazy to learn English and you live in America, then you shouldnt get to make decisions on politics. Its sad when people come here and dont want to be American,.... why come here then? Stay where you can speak your native tongue. My Grandparents came here and only knew their language and learned English because they wanted to be American, out of respect and because they knew this is the GREATEST country to live in and make something for yourself.

I disagree with extremist English-only advocates. There are a lot of people in this country who speak many different languages, so (for example) translating materials or having translators available when doing public business (like getting a driver's license, or going to court) is a good thing.
But in the case of voting ballots I'd love to hear a compelling case for why it's worth the expense. The act of becoming a citizen includes an English test ... many naturalized citizens have better English than a lot of people who are born here.
My main concern is that these efforts to put English only in ballots usually comes from conservatives who want to disadvantage minority voters (who generally lean Democrat).
I'd be curious as to whether Republicans in Florida are so keen on English-only ballots, as the Spanish-speaking community there is uncharacteristically Republican.

The people why are saying yes may be missing one thing. There are people here who speak English and can legally vote. However when it come to reading comprehension, especially on ballot measures that can be hard enough to understand if you grew up speaking English, they are more comfortable reading it in Spanish. There needs to be an official translation, it can't be left up to the local newspapers and media to provide.

Nope. There are different languages spoken around the world. Each is used for a different purpose. French is the diplomatic language. English is the economic language, and so forth. A variety of languages would be a good thing.
But on the other hand, if you want to live in a country, you should be able to at least understand the language of that country.
It depends on what side you think is right.

sure. English in basic terms. further and further product labeling is popping out with English and Spanish languages on the packaging. I consider you that this preferential scientific care of Spanish conversing people is inaccurate. To be trouble-free each and every thing you notice in Spanish and English could additionally must be in the numerous different languages spoken in the U. S.. not very useful. English in basic terms is the appropriate determination.

Not just yes, but Hell Yes!!! I get so sick of going to vote and seeing the signs out front that say "Aqui" which I assume is Mexican for Vote. If they want to live here, let them learn English like the rest of us. Then, they can vote like the rest of us.

Certainly that should be so within any English speaking country. If the voter (who must be a citizen) cannot speak English then they certainly won't know about the candidates.
