My gf is pregnant, and she can't go to the bathroom. Is it safe for her to take some laxatives?

Oral laxatives are not recommended during pregnancy as many of them pull fluid from other areas of the body into the colon to soften the stool. This can have harmful effects for the baby. Tell her to call the nurse at her OB's office. They can tell her what's safe.

that would depend on what kind and how far along she is, if she tries to get more fiber in her diet, she might be able to clear it up without anything. Shredded wheat was a staple at my house through each of my pregnancies. And now that there are several different flavors to chose from, hopefully there is one that she will like. I kept a box around for snacking on during the day, and never had any trouble.

It is best to increase dietary fiber. Eating fruit and drinking fruit juice helps. Ex-Lax is safe to use for occasional use only 1-2 tablets at bedtime.

She needs to go see her OB/GYN first. Laxatives are never really safe just to do on your own.. The fleets can be used because they are not oral.. Remember anything she eats/drinks the baby will get part of it... Big issue DOCTOR....

no laxitives- unless you ask your doctor first

she should eat fiber... go buy some metimicil or any cracker that is high in fiber. also i know prunes help to get the bowels going.

Good luck... and always if you have ANY doubt in medications- even over the counter ask your doctor or pharmacist.

No its not safe. The cramps from it can cause labor. Have her drink a lot of water. that can help.
