We have no toilet on site, often no drinking water, no flourescent jackets, no hard hats, no accident book, no fire extinguishers.

The health and safety people came round and just told them to sort it out but they didn't and nor did the health and safety come back.
So can i sue for endagerment or something or will i just lose my job if i complain.

i don't want to complain but if they're not willing to care about their employees why should we care about them!

Thanks for any help.

Hi!

If you're in the UK contact the Health and Safety Executive as mentioned before, and also give acas a ring.

www.acas.gov.uk.

If you don't take them on, you're in a way condoning their mal-practice. How do these bosses sleep at night?

You also owe it to your family. How would they feel if they got a visit from the Police telling them 'there had been an accident and you were never coming home again'?

I know it's hard to take on the people who are putting the bread and butter on your plate, but you need to be brave.

However, if you don't feel like being brave, move to another construction firm. As far as I am aware they are all crying out for good workmen like you.

Best of luck.

If you wanna quit, then quit. Nobody is forcing you to work there, it is a choice that you made. Most any court will see it that way.
If you are truly concerned for the safety of others that want to work there, you might want to contact HSE,OSHA,HSA. I only say HSA cause they seem to have the Presidential Authority to run everything now.
If you want to pester and sue to make money, thatg is your right. You more than likley will lose, but you can try.
Just quit that goofy place and move onward.

I would recommend that you seek advice from the HSE hot-line, you are entitled to all of the above via the 1974 Health and safety @work Act....if you were to receive an injury whilst in the employment of this company you could be legable for compensation.........or you could infrom the HSE via their "Whistle blower Act" here you can report things that are a risk to the H&S of yourself and fellow operatives.

Your complaint if seen as viable by the person you speak to will be investigated by the HSE, your name and how they came across the information is kept secret, and even if they did find out you can then take them to court if they sack you.

I work in a Sunday school, and we can't take the kids out in the summer anymore for health and safety. Its odd though, its the adventure and the getting into mischief that actually prepares a child for adulthood and teaches them common sense. If we don't let them get hurt once in a while how on earth will they learn? I really do worry about what the future holds for these closeted kids in Britain.

If you have any union members on site you can contact their officers and let them have previous and current situation now if you want support action, they will keep your name secret should you wish. You can contact the Health and Safety Executive but to get them to act without your name is difficult and slow. They are very much on the side of business if they can get away with turning a blind eye.If you are young watch your back, the company you are working for will get their revenge. The Employers organisations keep black lists of "whistleblowers" and will stop you getting a job anywhere for many years in retaliation.Thats why we have Trade Unions.

Phone the Health and Safety inspectorate (anonymously) when you're next on site and inform them. You should also report them to the local authority building inspector dept (or health & safety office if they have one).

They are breaking the law and it needs sorting or everyone will lose their jobs!!

Health and Safety inspectors welcome anonymous tipoffs and realise that a lot of people are afraid of going public when it's there own jobs on the line. Call the relevant people and make sure they take you seriously.
