I would hate to burst anyones bubble, but without knowing YOU no one can tell you exactly what it means. But I think that the basis may be that you are a friend who knows (or at least thinks) they can be counted on. I would wonder what the monster was doing in the first place and what kind of monster it was? It could represent your fears, but about what I would have no idea. And would they be your fears or fears for your friend? The monster could even be some sort of commitment that subconsciously you feel could threaten your friendship. What it boils down to I think you should talk it over with a friend who knows you best and who may have a bit of insight. Good luck, we all have our monsters to face.

It means that you avoid your problems and you should confront them and the part about your friend means that you are a loyal and good friend.
