NO! It only looks like hair and fingernails continue to grow after death. What causes this is that the skin drys up and shrinks, so it looks like the hair is growing. All cells are dead

After a fashion.

As soon as the body dies all funtions stop, including hair, nail or any other kind of growth. The only reason hair and nails appear longer after death is becuase the body evaporates all the water and shrinks. Cells like hair and nail cells dont have much water and so remain as they are, giving the appearence that the nails and hair are still growing.

At the end of the day the body itsself i suppose would HAVE stubble becuase the skin would shrink back and (depending whether or not the pores were open and the roots in one piece) would show some hair. However this would not be because the body actually "GREW" it, mearly becuase it had shrunk back to show it.

Yes, hair and nails continue to 'grow' for a few days after the body is dead. Also, some corpses really do move as the nerve impulses can be stimulated even though the neural pathways are gone.

Yes but not why people think. Stubble appears to grow after death but it's because the skin shrinks not becuase the hair grows.

Yes, but not because the hair continues to grow. This is a common misconception. What actually causes the appearance of longer hair is that the body shrinks as it dries and decays. The skin pulls back from the hairs, exposing them further. This would apply to facial hair just as much as any other hair, but the hair is not actually capable of growing anymore.

no, no, no, no, no, i say again no!!!

it is impossible for any growth to take place after death. this phenomena is merely shrinkage of skin and flesh which give the appearance of longer fingernails, hair. even the teeth will appear longer as the gums recede.

actually looking at the question again, yes. due to this shrinking process the stumps of facial hair will be exposed and this is what we call stuble.

No, they cannot. HAIR AND NAILS DO NOT GROW AFTER DEATH!!!!! That is an urban myth. They wiill only have stubble if they had stubble when they died.

It is a fallacy that hair and finger nail tissue continue to grow.

What actually happens is that the skin shrinks around the follicles and finger and toe ends - giving the appearance of growth.

Yes hair and indeed fingernails continue to grow after death, however a recent study costing £1.25 million dollars ( must be America) as decreed after cremation further growth is unlikely.
