As one who spent a lot of time in the area working, and volunteering during the rescue /cleanup after Hurricane David, I can say that if I NEVER go to Miami again, it will be too soon. As soon as you find yourself on the outskirts of town, the first thing you notice is that all the homes have bars on the windows. Clue #1. When driving on I-95, if you aren't in a Hummer, BMW, Jag, Rolls or a Bentley, going 100 mph, you WILL be run over. Clue #2. All the oddballs, weirdos, freakos, alternative lifestyle types, criminals and sociopaths spend all their time on South Beach along with the affluent folks. Clue #3. In my 55 years alive, I have never seen a group like this. They have so much of everything and are so angry they don't have more, specifically what you have, they act like they are going to explode. Clue #4.
Now I am fully aware that there are some very fine and decent people in the Dade/Broward area, but in my experience, these fine folks have been overshadowed by the "other" there.
You won't know unless you spend some time there yourself. I hope you enjoy yourself. And I hope it's to your liking. Unfortunately, it wasn't to mine.

My dad lives in Davie. which is like 25-30 miles north of Miami. As a tourist, you will like it. But... living wise... ??? . I did notice a difference in Davie/Ft. Lauderdale area than Miami. At first I just used to think, the whole South Florida vibe was the same... but once u spend time there, you see the differences. I love South Florida.. but I wouldn't say I love it because of Miami.

Only South Beach and few other cities in Dade county are nice. Majority of Miami is so dirty and crime ridden. Especially Overtown. I live in South Florida, trust me, I know. lol. If you are visiting, stay in South Beach. If you go west of that, you are dealing with a third world country, and they don't want you there.

I lived in Miami for about 2 years. It was so nice, maybe one of best cities in U.S. as long as you are a tourist. Thinking of living there? Need money. So I no longer live there.

I live in Miami and yes, it is a beautiful place. The only problem is that it is over-populated, too much traffic and some of the people are just plain rude.

it appears that evidently to me that CSI Miami is making an attempt to make the Caruso character look older and wiser via showing him as drained and wiped out. they want us to beleive that Horatio extremely cares on the topic of the situations and takes them individually. i'm a nurse on an alcohol rehab unit in a medical institution. He hasnt regarded intoxicated to me and that i glance at intoxicated people on a daily basis. what style of journey do you have with drunks?
