i found startrek pretty interesting i just like to know more, and thank you for answers :)

You know the thing that looks like a satellite dish on the front of all star trek ships? That's called the deflector array. It's supposed to spit out a field that knocks all the dust and rocks away when a ship goes to warp.

I think roman_soldier has it right. When the ship forms the warp field bubble, it is capable of defying Einstein's theory of relativity and its restriction on the speed of light being the fastest speed possible. The deflector array moves solid objects out of the way so that the Enterprise doesn't get vaporized by hitting a slow-moving object.

Of course, it's all fiction, so there's plenty of "deus ex machina" going in the show.

It has a navigational deflector, which is a kind of shield designed to protect the ship from high-speed collisions with space debris.
