It depends on what you intend to use it for. Make sure you can run the software you expect. Make sure it have a wireless card and a good amount of memory and disk and processor. Check what the accessories and warranty is. PC World will ask you to take out their £8.99 per month maintenance and theres not much on their website. Does it come with software, some of their PCs don't and they get you to buy vista and anti virus that can increase the cost a fair bit. Overall make sure that the spec meets your needs and the feel of the machine is good. Price as opposed to performance and usage is a false economy.

You're not going to want to hear this, but it's a very personal decision in that it matters HOW you use it (i.e. - what sorts of things you use your computer for) because that will dictate functionality requirements. Also, it's important how portable you need it to be - will you be lugging it everywhere and therefore need something a bit lighter/smaller? Well, are you willing to give up having an optical drive (CD, DVD reader or burner) in order to get that portability? So yeah, there are a lot of considerations to be made. But if you're looking for something that's easy to use and reliable... and portable and pretty worry-free, I'd say get a Mac. That's coming from someone who just bought a ThinkPad last month, so I'm not Mac-biased so you know, it's just an overall good suggestion when details are limited is all.

Think you need to look into a comfy chair. Unless you're sitting on your laptop, then you need to get a pillow-top lap-top.

Most laptops are good, its the technology that's rubbish, it hasn't updated its self in years,
Lot of surplus info like "windows shutting down" ....who cares, just switch of, so I can get to my bed.
