I don't know about animals having an effect on human heart rate, but I know that having an animal, people become less depressed, so they are more healthy, knowing that depression is the main cause of physical illnesses.

Because we were built to survive. If our hearts were weak, then there would be no point for us to have big brains either to develop our own ideas because we would die soon. We are complex and so is everything else in our body, including animals. This is a positive aspect for us. If you look at our anatomy, we have distinct reactions and muscles that occur in our hearts to keep the beating going. Our heart itself is a muscle, so knowing that, it is strong and what happens when you work your muscles?? They get stronger and more durable. Our heart is constantly working and it gets stronger and durable. That is why we must exercise and walk otherwise it could get stiff. It is important to take care of ourselves. Also, the only time our heart gets rest is when we sleep. Hearts work 24 hours a day, but the heart rate is much lower when we rest because not much energy or blood flow is needed in relation to when we are up and about. Take care of yours!

Well technically no, but if you are excited about getting a new puppy your heart rate might go up. I suppose if you eat enough fatty beef and your arteries got clogged with fat, all those cows you ate might affect your heart rate too.
