Wow..someone is really missing the whole point of christmas. Thats really sad Cynthia K if you dont know that the whole idea of santa claus was based on a man who really existed. Christmas is about the birth of jesus, and is about others being kind and warm to each other and showing how much they love each other. It was based on Saint Nicholas (dutch), who gave presents to poor children. The custom of giving gifts on a special day in winter was around before christianity came to be. The first Dutch settlers who came to America had a figure of Saint Nicholas on the front of their ship. After christianity was well established, Saint Nicholas became a customary symbol among christians for christmas. The Dutch celebrated the feast day on December 6th and said Saint Nicholas visited their homes the night before leaving gifts. In time, English settlers adopted the legends and festivities associated with Saint Nicholas. English-speaking children spoke the Dutch name for the saint, Sinterklaas, quickly and excitedly so that it sounded like Santy Claus or Santa Claus.

It started in Holland where a man named Saint Nicholas would fill childrens shoes that they left outside their front doors with candy the night before Christmas Hence the stocking tradition. Eventually over time, the name changed into Santa Claus.

I see my chum CELESTE replied you yet heavily, have you ever Googled Santa Claus? there are lots of of information obtainable it is surprising. Germany has their version and those in the states have yet another. I even have examine and heard lots of issues it somewhat does not rely to me at this ingredient, not that it ever did. :D Giving presents and showing love is something that I attempt to do all 365 days around and that's from Christ's teachings, not from a individual the two actual or make have self assurance it is spoke of as Santa. Giving of our time and attempt is the acceptable presents because it says in Matthew 10:9...we gained unfastened----provide unfastened.

My grandfather used to tell me a fabulous fable of an old british baron called Baron Nicholaus, who was extremely rich and wanted to help the orphans around England. Due to his popularity, he needed help and a place where he could work.. As his endeaver grew, he moved to the N. Pole and hired elves as not to alert any media etc.. I used to laugh and laugh at this story..

OMG! There is no such thing as "Santa"! If there was, he would defy the law of gravity and if he had flying raindeers, they would also defy the law of gravity! Stop believing this, how old are you? Your parents are lying to you about this! CHRISTmas is about the birth of baby Jesus, not santa claus or retarded flying raindeers, or even stupid pine trees! It is impossible for him to live on the north pole, cause if he did, he would die from extreme freezing temperatures and starvation. I figured out that santa wasn't real all by myself by common logic, when i was 10 yrs. old!
