my daughter is 12 months now and what a change of attitude! All the sudden she has sort of temper tantrums, throwing herself back and screaming, throwing and so on. She is so darn cute but what a change in personality. Any ideas

My daughter is going through the same sort of transformation... she can go from cute little angel to temper throwing little brat in about 2 seconds. She just turned 1 as well. I think it's a normal phase, as they are discovering more and more their own personality and yet still cant express what it is they want very well.
I'm not exactly sure what people expect you to do in disciplining a 12mth old. I tell my daughter no, to stop her behaviour, and if she continues I walk away. I'll come back a few minutes later and give her a toy to play with, and she'll be fine again. Good luck.

I don't think it is cute when a child of any age throws a temper tantrum. Your light hearted response is why she is doing it. If you continue to allow this behavior all I can say is good luck in the future and hopefully when out in public you do not make everybody else suffer.

My son is 14 months, I figure he doesn't know how to say too many words and he gets frustrated. I've just learned to compromise-he hates the stroller so I use a sling, he needs his hands to be busy in the car so I give him a toy, he'll want to get on the computer if he sees me typing, so I don't hop on till he's napping or occupied. To top it all off, around this age they can still be cutting teeth (oy molars) so they are even more cranky!

It's fairly normal, after all, she is a baby.

Your daughter will throw tantrums for attention, so you should probably stay calm and just ignore her when she's pitching a wobbly.

At that age the 2 best things is to distract her and not to see you smile or laugh.

she is just trying to get your attention and she probally did it a few times and she received your attention so now she will continue to do it so stop giving her the attention. just ignore her until she is calm then give her attention. she will learn the right behavor and don't be suprise that when you start ignoring her she does it more they are good at testing you...
