I know the muscle contracts and relaxes (gets longer). I just don't know if (in the arm) when your (let's say biceps) contract, does your arm move outwards or towards you? Thanks in advance!

Muscles work through impulses sent from the brain, which stimulates a motor nerve. It causes the muscle to produce a movement. The muscle has an origin which doesn't move and an insertion which moves toward the origin when the muscle contracts. The origin is usually higher than the insertion. When the muscle produces an extending movement the origin and insertion move away from eachother.
