i've heard that you need to be invited to sign up for a gmail account.Please tell me if this is true and if it is,could someone please invite me as i have no friends:).thanks

You could also sign up for a gmail account if you have a cell phone. Google will just send a code to your cell phone and then you go back to the website and put it in. So actually no referral or friends needed. Unless you don't have a cell phone either. Then email the first guy. He'll hook you up.
