Just like He-Man has two forms (He-Man & Prince Adam), his tiger has two forms. Normally, he is the cowardly Cringer, but when Prince Adam transforms into He-Man, Cringer becomes the mighty Battle Cat.

as a scared peaceful lil kitty w/ Prince Adam he was Cringer(sp), when zapped by the power sword he became Battle Cat. in the 80's version he talked, going from helpless and meek as Cringer to gruff and angry as Battle Cat. In the 2000-whatever revival of He-Man he didn't talk, but they used house cat sounds when he was Cringer, and Big Cat sounds as Battle Cat, whether they used actual animal sound effects in the 21st century edition or A very talented Voice actor. I do not know.
