when you get this prompt most users just press enter, and this is what you should do,it actually says to press enter for none
the only time you enter a volume label is when you are doing complicated networks,so as to identify any errors or illegal activitys to a certain computer on a network
also you should be able to find the volume label in bios, but again you will probally find a blank space as whoever formatted it before would of just pressed enter
good luck

If you are still able to start windows go to Start>Run and type 'cmd' and press enter.
when the command prompy comes up just type dir/w and DOS will bring up the directory information for the windows drive including the volume name and serial number.
If you are reformatting because you cannot start windows boot your computer into dos with a boot disk abd do the following.
Type 'C:'> type 'dir/w' and this will show you the directory information for the C drive.
Hope this helps.
