you would need a relay contrlled by the tstat, to conrol the new auto valve you would buy along with a flame sensor and other saftely controls needed for this set up

The only way it can be done with your set up is if the control valve has the prongs/or pigtail wires to connect an external switch. If it doesn't then you would have to replace the entire control which would not be cheap.
If it does have the connection terminals then buy a compatible remote from the manufacturer or install a wall switch.

This is something that's going to take a professional. You'll have to have a regulator, a thermostat, and wiring, Lot's of it. I would consult the people that you bought the unit from, they'd, or they should, have a way to convert the unit. You'll have to consult the building codes for the area about this unit, the chimney and make sure you can even use it. There would be a lot to consider here. A professional would take all this off your hands and be responsible for it.
