I got good grades in 5th year, and am now in 6th year. I have an offer from a university for next year which is unconditional, so I have a chance of continuing education next year. I feel so lonely and I want to get out of this hole and do something worthwhile. I have been depressed for the last few weeks and I really need to get away! What should I do? Any advice? I had applied for Cambridge, so that idea would go out the window if I left and I have been doing a community placement at the vets and an open learning course of Geography and various other things which the school has organised, so I would feel really cruel if I left after they spent lots of time helping me! Getting a bit depressed that everyone else gets more answers than me on this thing aswell!! Is it because I ask rubbish questions or is it just me!

I'm in Scotland - so 6th year is the final year of school before university. People apply for university in 5th and in 6th year and so some people from my year are already at university, but many wait until the end of 6th year. The offer is Glasgow University for Geography and Philosophy.

Nobody here has the right to decide what you should do.
I would try writing a list of all your reasons for leaving and reasons for staying.
Then spend some time thinking about what you want for the future and what you need to do to realise your goals.
Hopefully your decision will become clearer.
If you are feeling depressed a visit to your GP may be wise.
I wish you luck whatever you decide.

You really need to think carefully about this. If you leave, make sure you have something to do that interests and excites you.
I left school at 16 and re-entered full-time education age 23 and I don't regret it at all. I went out to work for a while and then I went travelling. I'm more independent because of it and have lived a little. These days, universities recognise the advantages of mature students and you can always return if you want to. The only issue is that tuition fees and the cost of uni are rising and by leaving it a while, you may have to pay more.
Why not take a gap year? You can volunteer abroad or in your country or work full-time.
Don't feel bad about letting people down. It's YOUR life and you will let people down far more if you go to uni and drop out after a few months.
Good luck!

This is a hard one to answer. Why are you depressed? is it the course work or are you just ready to move out on your own? If its not the course work then I would suggest that you stick it out when you get to uni you will be able to be your own person more. If you are only doing your studies because of external pressures e.g. parents expect it or school does then you really need to think hard and fast about what direction you want your life to take and try to achieve those goals that you set for yourself. As far as doing something worthwhile why not do some community work. Sorry to answer you with more questions but it is you that has to live with the decision not anyone else. Hope you get sorted soon.

It sounds like you should not make a decision now, too confused. Take some time and think about what you really want to do. Where do you want to be next year? At Cambridge or the other U. , next you should definately talk to someone because the depression may be stress or you may need counseling. The schools may have someone to talk to, if not reach out to a counseling center in your area. This is an important decision and much too hard to make on your own under the circumstances. Good Luck.

Being a vegan you must have heard this before but do you think u might need a vit B6 supplement? It is particularly good for depression. I don't know why the body's needs vary over time, but they do and you need to keep on top of it if you have a selective diet..

Take some time off if you need to, but it is hard to go back after that. If you have a chance to go to Cambridge, it would be a shame to miss out on it.
