You mean, what does it stand for? Original Equipment Manufacturer. That probably does not help, but here is what it really means.

If I make a computer, I can buy the Microsoft Windows system as a so-called OEM, so it becomes integrated into my product. That means that when I buy Windows for my computers for resale, I assume all responsibilities of the software too. So when my customers complain to me about Windows, I've got to fix it and make it right. If they contacted Microsoft about the problem, they would have to pay for service. It would be wise if they dealt with me directly, since I am the "Original Equipment Manufacturer".
