I worked for a lab that DNA testing was done daily. Generally paternity test are NOT done in the hospital right after birth. This generally a outside lab you have to go to. It's my understanding that insurance will not pay for the procedure unless you have really unusual insurance. It's not a preventative or illness cost so... The cost will run from $300.00 and up. per person being tested... Mouth swabbing on all involved generally takes 4-6 wks as well as the blood sample. Mouth swab seems to be easier on everyone involved expecially the baby. It can be done as soon as the little one is released...

It is not covered by an insurance that I know of. My friend had it done on her son in the hospital the day he was born. It took about a week to get the results back and she ended up with a bill of about $1,000

Not me, but my girlfriend did. Hospitals do not do that kind of test. You would need to go to a lab that does that. It is very expensive and insurance does not cover it. It usually takes about 2-3 weeks for the results and is about $600-$700.

insurance doesn't cover it, you can by a test online and do it at home with mouth swabs the cheapest ive seen is about 115, and you get the results in 5 days or less just surf the net you will find plenty, and if the hospital does do it, it would cost a lot more.
