I'm not sure what kind of books you want to read, but there are several sites where you can read books for free. Project Gutenberg is the biggest most well known site. View the offerings here - http://www.gutenberg.org/wiki/Main_Page

The Internet Public Library has a list of sites offering free online books at http://www.ipl.org/div/books/

You can also try the following:

http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/titles/i

That website has a whole bunch of books that you can download for free. Alot of them include classics. Most are older versions and no longer have a copyright in the US which is why it's now legal to download for free.

Hope there's something in there you're looking for.

This depends on the kind of books you're looking for. You can try books24x7.com, or safari library, but you have to pay for both.
