Yes but that is DIFFERENT it is for government purpose, most governments are hypocrites they all want you to do as they say but not what they do. Have you seen those nice cars they all ride around in, not exactly your average 1300 model.

Ministers use the Queen's Flight 'like private taxis'
By Brendan Carlin, Political Correspondent
(Filed: 12/04/2006)

Tony Blair was accused last night of using the Queen's Flight "like personal taxis" after figures disclosed that he had used the RAF aircraft for holidays and allowed ministers to use them for routine Government visits.

The Blairs used the Queen's Flight to fly to Egypt in 2001
The Prime Minister has used the aircraft on 677 occasions since 1997 and spent about £140,000 on five trips abroad, mainly devoted to family holidays.

The figures, revealed under freedom of information legislation, show that senior ministers, including Gordon Brown, the Chancellor, have regularly used the Queen's Flight to ferry them from London to Brussels rather than take the train.

There are also two instances of ministers apparently using the RAF to take them to Labour's annual seaside conference.

Yes; and for John Prescott to have 3 jaguars; and goodness knows what else - politicians often are hypocrites, sadly.

That said, we should all be doing everything we can to reduce carbon emissions, whether the government put their money where their mouth is or not - if we wait for them to give a good example, we'll be too late!!

The Red Arrows are performing a valuable service training pilots for the R.A.F.. I wish I could say that inhabitants of the Houses of Parliament were performing a useful service but the major service most of them are doing is lining their pockets with taxpayers cash. I won't even go into the Blairs and their freeloading else I won't eat my supper.

The planes would be in the air anyway, as pilots are constantly training, this way we see what they can do and be entertained. They also act as a statement to the rest of the world about the standards to which UK pilots can fly.
