In Germany there is teenager bopband called Tokio Hotel. The name alone sounds very cheesy and daffy. The main problem is that these youths have no musical background, neither do any music education. They´re 16 - 17 years old and are casted by the money greedy style producers. Their fans are around 12 until 18 years old girls. I´m speechless now, the german music award nominated them after their first released CD as the best newcomer ! while the legendary rockbands such as AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Queen or The Who needed to work bloody hard for their long periods to be the rock legends.

Am I crazy? or the youngster are foolish ? is this similar also happened in the UK?

well pink floyd is really the only band where ALL of the members actually have a degree in music (please correct me if i am wrong as i don't research every band and i would love to be informed).

just because there is no musical schooling doesn't mean there isn't musical knowledge. i'm guessing this band is like n sync etc. though where all they do is sing and look pretty. that's pathetic, but it sells.

it does greatly annoy me as i see many good bands who deserve at least recognition get looked over time and time again by people who can only sing (this coming from someone who can't sing). but i do not think that there has to be a scholastic background from any band member to be a good band. it just requires musical knowledge and adeptability. my brother plays 20 different instruments and the most structured instruction he has ever had in music was band in high school. he taught himself - if anything that should make him a better person.

but yes, this garbage that they spew at us because the little teeny boppers want a boy to drool over is pointless. i remember new kids on the block (yes, i am that old, shush!). i didn't like their music - johnathon knight was hot, but i didn't listen to their music. i listened to prince, george michael, jean loves jezabel, the english beat, and many, many others... but eye candy is nice... although they shouldn't get recording contracts, they should get modeling contracts.

Tokio Hotel sucks, everytime there is a big show on tv here in Germany, they invite Tokio Hotel to perform.. and 3/4 of the audience boos them while the young 13 year old fan base screams up a storm, I cannot stand it. The lead singer looks like a girl anyways, he has black shoulder length extensions put in. Blah. I hope they go away as fast as Hanson did!

That happens everywhere - luckily, if you look hard enough, you can find rock acts that actually have talent. The ones that do have the talent rarely get the attention they deserve.

Some bands I would recommend: The Gathering, Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard, Green Carnation, Superior, Leaves Eyes, After Forever, Age Of Silence, Pain Of Salvation, Ayreon.

we do get some stupid teenie boppers but we mostly have some decent bands. I don't bother with the charts any more cos it's all a bunch of rubbish! Forget about the charts and music awards and just listen 2 the music you like, it's so much easier than gettin yourself worked up about stupid little pop bands that'll just end up as drug addicts and on some desperate reality tv show, tryin to be famous again! lol

and i would would just lyk 2 say that MCR are NOT a bubble gum band,as deep thought says, and not just americans lyk them! their nu album is brilliant and she shuld try keeping stupid opinions to herself.

hahahahaha. Tokio Hotel.

It's not about music, it's about industry marketing and product placement. Sucking the kids into thinking things are 'good'. It's basically politicians set loose on pop music. It's pretty sad..

This is no different than the bubble gum band many teenagers in the usa like called "my chemical romance" (mcr) these bands have teenage fans and not adult fans for a reason.

bubble kid stuff.. pure junk... no true quality, just like preservatives add to food, no real substance needed.

I reckon 15-18 year olds wouldn't be interested in those kind of bands.
