There is a lot of information available on the internet. A Yahoo search for "carter pottery" (include the quotation marks in the Yahoo search box) yields 326 results. If you do the same search, and are willing to spend a little time exploring, I'm sure that you will quickly find lots of useful and interesting information.

Good luck with your search.

It is definitely handmade. If you live around that area go to antique shops and see what is sitting on the shelves. If it is good quality with no chips, dings or cracks; well...you do not give a size or whether you want to keep it. my mother has had an antique shop for over 40 years and I know something about several things...my father collected art pottery and that is not one of the big names(Roseville, Weller--there are more)I have never seen that name in an antique book(like Kovels in any bookstore up dated yearly) but if it is a local potter it could be valuable OR you could just enjoy it yourself.

So hang onto it. The fact that is has survived for 64 years is intriguing alone. I'm sure there is some value to it as well, but if it's been in your family all this time it should be treated as an heirloom.
