What are their duties, responsibilities.... in essence what is their job outline. This question is open to ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE so don't be shy to answer any or all of the sub-questions.

As student who is close to receiving her Masters in Interior Design I will account for the long grueling hours spent at the studio in order to prepare you for the real world firm....it is a competitive field....one that may not be lucrative financially so it is definetly something that one needs a passion for...hours are spent researching materials, figuring out how things are built, having knowledge of building codes and regulations and being able to implement them into your design, being conscious of how the designed space affects the occupants health, safety, and well being...interior design for a building focuses more on the details of a project while architects focus more on the grand scheme of things....within a firm a group of architects will have projects that last longer....1-5yrs typically....while the interior designers will be working on a multitude of projects that typically have a shorter working span....interior designers within an architecture design firm also have their own projects and generate alot of working revenue for a company......in addition....designers don't get much credit in the real world but within the industry we are gaining more and more recognition as a valuable asset...and the industy recognizes that there are differences in knowledge, skill, and education between a designer and a decorator....in some states it is required to be licensed in order to call yourself a interior designer....hopefully this will be a regulation across the US since if affects the well being of the public.....

Well all I can go by is Will and Grace! lol! It seems to me that it's a job that involves making a room or building more comfortable and pretty to look at! I guess that would make their duties to find things like paint, curtains, decor, ect. to make over the room or building.
