We kinda know the process but, no matter if you approach it from a scientific or theological discipline, the actual starting point becomes a little metaphysical when we try to work our way back to it. The physical laws that we know of don't work past a certain point and the spiritual laws that would work appear to be known only to a chosen few.
It is interesting to note that a Roman Catholic Priest, named Georges Lemaître, first postulated the Big Bang theory in 1927 that the scientific community is still working feverishly to prove.
What is pretty clearly deductible is that something was some how introduced to the vacuum and after that we can kind of figure things out assuming that we are willing to accept some logical reasoning as proof.
But, don't feel like the Lone Ranger. Some very intelligent and rational individuals have, for some reason, found it necessary to ponder the same question.
"I want to know how God created this world. I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know His thoughts; the rest are details." - Albert Einstein

The world did not start in hell as hell like heaven is a myth.
The earth moon, and sun started like all othe rplanets, moons, started after the huge explosion which created the universe.huge amount sof gase, dust cooled down and began to form stars at first geathering the most material. than as other gases, and dust began to circle the sun they collied , and large objects attracted smaller objects creating planets . The Earth was one of these.
At first it was a hugh ball of hot gas which gradually began to cool, attract dust, later forming the seas and oceans.
there you have the Earth.

With the big bang or with "in the beginning GOD created" they are
not mutually exclusive.
That having been said, the real problem becomes when each side of the question state there view as if it were proven fact.
It's all just best guess.
