I grew up in NJ about 8 miles outside of NYC.
Your question reminded me of incident that occured at fast food place in NYC. In 1988.
I was going to see movie.
I had time to kill before movie.
Decided to get cup of coffee at fast food place.
When I ordered coffee ...person behind counter looked at me and kinda sneered and asked...
"Is that all?"
Like they worked on commission.
The service questionnaire for this fast food place should have had the question...
"was your meal served in a surly and arrogant manner?"
Minor incident.
But I remember it well.
When these things happen I just move on and never frequent that particular establishment again.
