making a disk for downloading?

my laptop came with windows xp on my driver.
is there any way I can make a disk for downloading if things went wrong.
they say just go to f10 but its all that worrydoing it.
with the diskyou just put it in

most newer computers come with a program that lets you make backup discs in case of a problem if you havent already made them then use the f10 feature and do a distructive recovery when its finished immediatly make the discs
